Grades 4-6: The Human Body

Learning about health isn't just about medical diseases and conditions. It's about understanding yourself, your friends and family, and the world around you.
  1. Click on the picture to explore the Kids Health site.
  2. Reply to this post with a paragraph about something that you learned at the site. (Note: This is for marks. You MUST write a reply.)

Mlle. Holden's Class: Once you're finished the bullying survey, you may visit this site. This will take the entire class. Use your headphones to listen to the sound. If you don't have headphones, you may use the speakers on your monitors. Be respectful of others, and keep the volume down.

Mlle. Kerr's Class: You may turn your sound on, but remember to keep it low. Once you've posted a paragraph, you may work on other assignments. Grade Fives: Do not play games or go on youtube today. Grade Sixers: If you choose to play games, you may only play the ones on the EQAO page that I made for you (look at the post below).

HI Mrs.Bromley,

Today when I was at the site that you put on your post I learned about cells.

I learned that are lot's of diffrent cells to keep us form getting sick. But we also need to keep ourself clean on the outside.
I also learned that if one of the virus invade a cell on of the protecter in our body just kills the one cell, beacuse we have trillions of cells in our body and our body always creats more cells.

And there are 5 steps to winning a battle to viruses. And most of all we need those protecteors in our body so they can keep us healthy.

I thought the video that I saw was really interesting.

Astudent,
Janet

Dear Ms. Bromley,

The immune system is something in your body that provents viruses to get you sick.

I was watching a vedio about the immune system.I learned that in your immunes system, when ever there is a virus or anything bad in your system, there are cells that protect your self from being sick. There are also memorie cells that remember the virus that came into your body and if it comes again next time, your body will know how to fit the virus.

I also leared that without your immune system, you would get sick all the tome and there would be no hepl in your body.

Dear Mrs.Bromley,

I learned these things about health:1)Every food you have has calories, except water. 2)If you have too much candy, you have to excercise or else the calories turn into fat. 3)I learned that calories are the energy that you use to move, play, or excercise. Those are the 3 important things that I learned about health today.

L.O.L,

Amanda W.

The heart is divided into 4 parts:(on the top right side)pulmonary valve, (and on the bottom right side)tircuspid valve, (and on the left side)the aortic valve and last but not least the mitral valve.

Hey Miss Bromley it's Chelsea here's what I thought about this website. The Brain is like the boss of your body. It controls everything. Without the brain you would be spaghetti. The nervous system is called the nervous system because their are billions of nervous cells. So that why they call it the Nervous System. The thalamus is part of the brain. It carries messages from your sencery organs to your tongue, nose, ears etc. The brain stem connects the brain to the spinal cord. The cerebelem keeps you balanced. So far that's all I know. Talk to you tomorrow. Fondly Chelsea

I learned that your nails are made of keratin and there are around 10 million receptors in your nose. Did you know that the iris is the most colourful part of the eye and your ears help you balance. And that's all the info you get.
